Craziest hailstorm hits the East Rand

On Saturday afternoon at about 2pm it started hailing in Midrand - large marble size hailstones and in no time at all the storm had spread along the N3 in a southerly direction. By this time the hail had reached golf and tennis ball size and left a path of destruction in it's wake. Lyn was caught in it just after the Giloolly's Interchange and the poor Caliber was badly dented. So many motorist's windscreens were smashed in and house windows broken.
Here is a collection of pictures taken from facebook and twitter. to show the extent of the damage.

The aftermath in Kyalami area

  1. Just look at the size of those hailstones, no wonder the extent of the damage it caused was quite severe. But one should immediately contact the roofers in the aftermath of such an event to assess the damage and repair of the broken structures, such as the windows and the shingles on the roof. The roof is a complex structure that needs every part of it in functioning order, so it can protect the house more adequately in harsh elements like these.

  2. The hail storm really left the neighborhood devastated. Look at the roof, windows, and the cars. They'll definitely need a lot of money to repair all the damages. Well, natural disasters are inevitable, sometimes unpredictable. We just have to be thankful that no one was hurt.

  3. Stunning, really. These hailstorms seem to get worse and worse, as much as they're becoming very unlikely, or at least their anchoring climactic conditions are. Has the roof been already patched up? Because with what's been currently going on, it will probably need more than a mere 'stitch'.
