Spending the day at Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve. It was so beautiful and peaceful
There were a surprising number of wildflowers blooming too
Tiny little Kievit next to the road
The old eagles nest ridge
The trees grow in natural fire breaks - all the stones protect them
Suikerbos tree
The road up to the highest part of the park - incidentally also the highest point on the Highveld at 1917m above sea level
The clouds started to get heavier and you could see the rain in the distance
And then it started to rain, we couldn't see much but luckily it didn't last long.
The cooler weather seemed to bring the animals out of hiding
wildebeest
At the picnic site, having some snacks
guinea fowl walking along the road
The thorn trees in this area are spectacular
The very tall aloes
Reedbuck
zebra
Red Hartebeest
Baboon
There are also remains of an iron age settlement which had these beautiful views
Just some time for a few photos
before the rain moved back in
It was a really enjoyable time.
