Lyn and Al finally had an oppurtunity to hike some more of the Klipriversberg Nature Reserve.
This time their destination was the Beacon Lookout Point with its gorgeous views of the
Johannesburg skyline. This was quite a strenuous hike but well
worth the visit.
Once again this is such a picturesque reserve with beautiful landscape and views but also an assortment of unusual plants
They actually saw some of the resident buck this time
The first views of the Joburg skyline
All of the time the trail is heading up
Up
And up some more
Can you spot the lizard?
Up more to reach the beacon
I am calling this a Hug Me cactus
And from up here they could see an approaching storm
Finally reaching the lookout
The Beacon
Unfortunately thee storm did chase them off the mountain ( after all standing at one of the highest points on the Witwatersrand during a highveld thunderstorm is really not a good idea )
but they really enjoyed this hike and will head beack to the reserve very soon
